This pot makes a good cup of coffee in a short period of time, but you have to be careful when washing it, you must wash it with a soft sponge and do keep the inner and outer finish from losing its chrome like finish and shine.when pouring do not tilt the pot too much forward or it will over flow, but all and all I am happy with it because I could never find one with color locally.

I have had this stovetop expresso maker for 2-3 weeks and have used it every day. I bought it to replace one that I had that began leaking where you screw the lid on. For about the last week this product has begun leaking ( not every time) where the top and bottom screw together as well as leaking around the lid when pouring. Sometime I assume I will buy a higher end item.

Several months after purchasing this espresso maker, the bottom started bulging out and separating from the rest of the unit. I wrote to WMF's customer service and they refused to replace the item stating that I must have been using it over extremely high heat. I had used only on my stovetop but they still refused to take responsibility for the defective item. It's a nice-looking espresso maker but be forewarned!update: I sent the espresso maker back to WMF. Not only did they refuse to replace it, they sent it back to me with the top broken off. When I wrote to let them know they sent it back in worse condition than it had arrived, they never got back in touch. zero stars

I bought a second one of these coffee makers after the first one cracked. We like the clean line design of it, and it makes acceptable coffee. After a year of everyday use, towards the end of brewing the pressure whistle would go off randomly, sometimes it would go off, other it would not. Finally, the bottom steel cover and ceramic pad fell off. I guess I was lucky it did not explode on my face instead...

I absolutely love this coffee maker. Very high quality and well built. BUT... I can't seem to find anyone in the US who has the right sized replacement filter and gaskets for it. The originals are plenty durable (6 mos so far) but the time will come and I'm not sure what I'll do. I've even written the company in Italy and their US rep. couldn't help!

After several trips to Italy I have become and espresso addict and now smuggle home several kilos of LaVazza coffee with me. One of the things I admire about Italy is the level of art/design they put into simple items like this. They add a bit of elegance to your kitchen just sitting on the counter. In use I prefer the stainless steel makers than the aluminum ones even though the aluminum ones heat up a bit faster. These make great espresso (get yourself some LaVazza coffee). If you want cappuccino I suggest the areolatte frother along with this machine and you'll be quite happy with the results.

This espresso maker is very small, don't expect to make a log of espresso with it. I was surprised at the size when I got it but it does make 2 espresso cups, not regular size cups. I only gave it 4 stars because if you wanted a second helping, to unscrew the bottom you have to wait for it to cool. It is a little hard to unscrew the bottom and there are a few different pieces, I had to read through the instructions to figure it out. It works well for me because I use it once every couple months however if you are a fan of espresso, this is difficult to clean and use and might be worth buying something else.

Finicky, but Ultimately a Great Coffee Maker (Secret User Instructions)

I bought this little pot to make convenient and decent homemade espresso. Yes, I know that it's only steam pressure, so it's not *really* espresso. But, used correctly this little pot does a great job. It produces a dark, concentrated double shot of espresso that satisfies. I generally pour this into a mug and add hot water to make a cafe americano (yeah, I'm not a purist).But ... and this is a big but, using it correctly is not intuitively obvious. I searched the instructions, the internet and the Bialetti website in vain for guidance because I had problems. That is why I'm posting this review and writing up a set of instructions for using the Cuor Di Moka.How the Pot Works: Bialetti built this pot with a valve in the stem that cuts off the flow of water from the bottom to the top at a certain point. The goal, as they state it, is to provide just the "heart" of the coffee. It's the certain point that creates the problem.The Problem: Often I was only getting a tiny portion of coffee--something like half a shot of espresso, instead of the two shots that this little pot should produce. I cleaned the pot, thinking that it was clogged, but got no reliable improvement. I did, at one point, consider setting this pot aside as another mistaken purchase. But, further experimentation brought me to ...The Solution: What I finally realized is that the certain point where the shut-off valve operates is based on temperature. A couple minor adjustments in how I set up and used the pot now allow me to consistently produce a full double shot of strong espresso. Heat is what causes the valve to shut off the flow of steam through the ground coffee into the receiving chamber. 1) Fill the bottom chamber with very cold water. It doesn't matter how full the bottom is because only half the water gets pushed to the top in any case. 2) Wash out the receiving chamber, and the stem inside which contains the shut-off valve, with very cold water as well. This is the real key. Starting with the valve very cold permits the largest volume of water to pass into the receiving chamber. 3) Use a moderately low temperature on the stove top. I use 4 (out of 10) on my stove. It generally takes 7-9 minutes for the Cuor Di Moka to finish at this setting.Cold water. Cold stem valve. Low heat. By following these three steps I'm very happy with the coffee produced by this machine.

Update: Having used it for a year, I gave it a special award on my site: acpress (it's a com)[...] (My "Product of the Year." Read why at the site.)###This was my Christmas present (early) this year. I was torn between the unit that (allegedly) produces crema and this unit that (again allegedly) allows only the best, the most flavorful brew to enter the top chamber. I have owned a number of these kind of pots, including an "Alicia" electric model and they have all been marginal quality with an over extracted burnt taste. And belive me, I've tried to make them work!This unit is FAR better. I'm not sure if it the flow is cut off thermally or by the simple heart shaped float that the coffee raises as it enters the top chamber, but I do get the top all the away full, and it is rich and dark.I use a small Sanyo mini-hot plate (designed for portable ramen cooking while traveling!) and it seems to be just the right temp. Takes about five minutes to make a pot using very cold winter well water. One caveat: do NOT use ultra fine grind espresso! A slightly more coarse version is fine. And, unlike finicky pump machines, you CAN easily get buy with a blade grinder!Extra points for a very classy look and the simple bayonet mount. I'd like a bit larger version, so take away one star!UPDATE: I picked up a standard Bialetti Moka pot (no valves or other gimmicks) and got similar results AS LONG AS I watched carefully and removed the pot from the heat BEFORE the final rush of superheated steam and water. However, you have to watch carefully. If you don't this unit will do the trick for you.

Pot works fine, but the glass top broke after one use, probably will not "dish-washer" the glass top in future. Get the small Fits-All replacement. Be sure to turn down the heat once the percolating starts, can boil over.

This coffee pot makes a great, freshly brewed pot of coffee. Coffee is not bitter or burnt tasting as I had with a former stove top percolator made by a different company. Although narrower than the smallest burner on my smooth top, that in no way affects its ability to brew a great cup of coffee. If you're looking for a consistent coffee taste, you won't be disappointed with this coffee pot. A key to keeping the glass percolator top from cracking, as I have read in other reviews, is to turn the burner down to low as soon as the water starts to boil and to wash in top rack of dishwasher or remove glass top and wash by hand.

A good-looking coffee pot and makes a good cup of coffee. However, a nine-cup pot actually makes only 8 cups. I really enjoy the smell of fresh coffee being made in the morning and seeing the coffee perculating through the glass top. Nonetheless, after making less than a dozen pots of coffee, while pouring coffee in a cup the glass top just broke off and tumbled into the cup. So order a couple of more glass perculator tops along with the pot because the pot is useless without it.

I have been using the old Bialetti Moka for decades. They are very serviceable, consistent coffee makers.I bought a Brikka a couple of years ago and after a few initial hiccups, I have been delighted with the results. The only difficulty with the Brikka is that it is more temperamental in use.1) You cannot use more than 100ml of water. That is absolutely essential. Any more and it will spill all over your stove. Use a measuring cup and get it right (there are actually star marks on the inside of the chamber anyway).2) Brikkas don't like very fine ground beans. Medium is about right for a Brikka. Any finer than that - like espresso grade - and it tastes bitter.3) Don't ever use soap to clean the top chamber. Rinse it out with tap water and let it dry naturally. You want to season the pot. Keep the seals free of residue or they will leak under pressure.4) Get it off the stove as soon as the valve pops or the steam will get to it and make it bitter.You can install a $5000 coffee maker in your kitchen and not get a better cup of coffee than this.

I love good coffee. I had purchased a Krups home espresso machine that I really liked. It made great coffee as long as it was working or the steam wand wasn't broken. Eventually I was having to reload 2 to 3 times to pull my morning shots and this became very frustrating.My dear wife had purchased a Primula stove top espresso pot and on a lark I fired it up one morning and found that the coffee it produced was really quite good. I began using this little pot every morning and was delighted at the simplicity of making my morning capuccino.I was browsing Amazon and came across the Bialetti Brikka and I liked the idea of the valve on this liitle pot. It seemed like a good idea to give the water a little resistance and allow some pressure to build, so I thought I would give it a try. I have been very pleased with this purchase. The simplicity of producing a really good cup of coffee is probably what I appreciate the most. No more fiddling with my pump machine, reloading a failed shot, ordering that stupid plastic steam wand (I think I bought 4 of them), just put in the fresh water, load the basket, screw on the top and wait a few minutes for an excellent cup of coffee.Some of the reviews I read claimed that the Brikka doesn't work. Although I had to try a few times to find the sweet spot, with a little patience and a few adjustments to heat level, grind, amount of coffee in the basket, etc. you too will be delighted at the results.One note about what the manufacturer refers to as "froth". The Brikka does not produce"crema" and I have to say that I applaud the manufacturer for their honesty, but it does produce a beautiful, dark coffee froth or foam at the end of the brewing process that is a wonderful alternative.I would enthusiastically recommend this product to any coffee lover looking to get back to the simplicity of enjoying a great cup of morning coffee.I bought the 2 cup model. I struggled with whether to buy the 4 or 2 cup and was confused about how much actual coffee was produced, but the 2 cup works perfectly for 1 double shot espresso or capuccino.

Solved The Exploding

First 10 batches sprayed espresso all over my kitchen. No one has figured out why this happened so I went through every possible scenario to solve this issue.Here's the foolproof method after repeated trial and error:1. Wash and remove any debris from the Brikka.2. Only put water up to or slightly below the line in the base.3. Use reg ground coffee, NOT espresso grind and fill up to half of the coffee holder. Too fine means trouble, too much ground coffee means trouble.4. Make sure absolutely nothing is on the rubber seal or the rim of the metal base or ground coffee holder.5. Put on low heat (I have a gas stove so the blue flame is really low).6. Wait 6-8 minutes. Once the espresso pops into the top carafe, immediately turn off the heat.The resulting espresso tastes great with no burnt flavor but only amounts to a small shot. There is a little crema on the top but I think that may be due to the freshness of the beans/grind not the Brikka. Espresso stays hot in the carafe for 10+ minutes, and I simply run water over the whole Brikka to cool it down before rinsing out. I never use soap or detergent, just splash water around all the parts to clean.I almost sent this back as defective based on other reviews, but I'm glad I did my own research and got it to work. I think any problems are due to user error.

Was looking for a reasonably priced, stainless steel Espresso maker, that wouldn't break after the second attempt to make a cuppa. It was a present for my mom, who loved it. It looks nice and sturdy, the gasket doesn't smell, the base is wide enough for our gas stove (I was worried as the Turkish coffee pot keeps falling off the rack as its base is too narrow for it). No spills, no burns, just what you need in the morning. Easy to clean, assemble and use. Takes about 5-7mins to make 4 (small) cups of coffee. Would definitely recommend.

This is the worst espresso coffee pot I have bought. It leaks, it spits. Also, after the pot has cooled down, it still is almost impossible to remove the filter to make a new pot. I would rather go without espresso than using this pot. DON'T BUY IT

I have alot of experience with stove top espresso units, and was really disappointed with this item. It leaked significantly no matter how tightly it was put together. Additionally, after only one month, the handle broke off, with not much pressure on it trying to take the unit apart.

I just got this espresso maker in and I am very pleased with it. I have always purchased them cheaply at TJMaxx or Marshall's in the past, so I am used to pouring the coffee over the sink or having a hard time unscrewing the top to clean it...but this one is much better. The top closes smoothly and there was absolutely no leaking. I suppose if you are used to pricier espresso makers, you may have more complaints, but for me, this one works great!

I am very satisfied with this espresso maker. It makes very good coffee and is fairly solid. The one complaint I have about the construction is that the handle is plastic and feels cheaply attached. I take care of it, but I still fear that after prolonged use the handle may come off or break.The pot is easy to clean and separates into 3 parts for washing it out.I have no regrets about this purchase and recommend it to anyone looking for an economical way to manually brew a decent cup of espresso.

Italian-based manufacturer Bialetti has been producing stove-top espresso pots since the 1930s and is the name behind the traditional stove-top style of pot, the Moka Express. So simple to use for a great cappuccino:

Place water in the bottom section to the level indicated
Fill the filter basket with ground coffee and twist on the upper section
Add milk to the level indicated
Close the lid, push down the pressure button which will create the steam
Place on the stove, bring to the boil & leave for about a minute after the button has popped up.

For a caff� latte, leave the button in the up position so as not to produce froth.
